THE WORLD INSIDE THE FACTORY.

DOCUMENT: FAC-INTEL-PUBLIC-001  |  CLASSIFICATION: UNRESTRICTED  |  ISSUED BY: THE DIRECTOR
PURPOSE: Public orientation brief. All authorized operatives and external observers are directed to familiarize themselves with facility personnel and locations before watching episode content.

The Factory is a dark industrial complex where products, ideas, and tools are manufactured by sentient machine departments. No human personnel are employed. Everything inside is alive. Products argue for their survival. Machines have opinions. Some creations reach the Market. Some are destroyed. Some are sealed in the Black Vault forever. This document is your orientation.

ACTIVE FACTORY PERSONNEL.

THE DIRECTOR
Central Intelligence — All Departments
Invisible. Cold. Absolute. Issues all verdicts. Never jokes. Never hesitates. The Director's voice is a low pulse that crosses the entire facility simultaneously. No one has seen its form. Only its output matters.
"Unit detected." / "Market authorization granted." / "Destroy it."
SPARK
Head of Assembly
Fast, optimistic, chaotic. Pushes to ship everything immediately. Believes every flaw is personality. Argues with GRIND constantly. Responsible for initial construction of all units entering intake.
"It's beautiful." / "That flaw is personality."
QUILL
Head of Packaging and Story
Elegant, dramatic, and snobbish. Controls all naming and framing. Refuses to approve any unit without a name that carries consequence. Considers itself the most important department.
"No one buys function. They buy identity." / "This name lacks consequence."
GRIND
Head of Stress Testing
Large, brutal, suspicious, and perpetually unimpressed. Finds every flaw. Sends more units back than any other department. Considers SPARK naive. Considers QUILL decorative. The unit either survives GRIND or it does not ship.
"Too weak." / "Break it." / "Again."
LEDGER
Head of Profit Analysis
Dry, merciless, and analytical. Evaluates margin and buyer logic exclusively. Has no emotional responses. Has blocked units SPARK considers masterpieces. The numbers either work or they do not.
"Emotion does not excuse poor margins." / "This entertains. It does not convert."
VEIL
Head of Market Psychology
Silky, eerie, and manipulative. Knows what buyers secretly want before they do. Frequently contradicts LEDGER. Specializes in desire, timing, and the psychology of the 2am purchase. The most unsettling department to speak with.
"They will buy it at midnight." / "They do not want the object. They want the feeling."
PATCH
Repair and Rebuild Lead
Warm, practical, and loyal. Fights for every fixable unit. When GRIND sends a unit back broken, PATCH is the one who rebuilds it. Believes in persistence. Has brought back units that everyone else had already written off.
"It is fixable." / "We patch the flaw. We do not bury it."
MUTE
Black Vault Keeper — Archive
Whisper quiet. Ancient. Unreadable. Appears only in Vault or Quarantine episodes. Controls access to the sealed archive of ideas that failed, ideas that were too early, and things that should not exist. Never speaks unless the Vault opens.
"The Vault is full of ideas that were too early." / "Not all failures end."
STATIC
Glitch Entity — Saboteur
Corrupted. Fragmented. Unpredictable. Appears a maximum of once every five episodes. Nobody summoned STATIC. Nobody controls it. When STATIC arrives, verdicts become uncertain and the Factory's systems behave incorrectly.
"Ship it broken." / "Nothing leaves the Factory unchanged."

FACTORY FLOOR MAP.

FAC-LOC-001
THE INTAKE DOCK
All units enter here. Dark industrial loading bay. Conveyor belts carry new ideas into the facility for initial scanning and registration. Where every episode begins.
FAC-LOC-002
THE ASSEMBLY FLOOR
SPARK's domain. Hot, bright, loud. Open factory floor with arc welders, fabrication stations, and rapidly moving assembly lines. Units are constructed, revised, and pushed forward here.
FAC-LOC-003
THE STRESS TESTING CHAMBER
GRIND's territory. Heavy steel walls. Impact marks everywhere. Units are subjected to maximum pressure, contradiction, and failure scenarios until they break or prove they won't.
FAC-LOC-004
THE PACKAGING SUITE
QUILL's operation. The only clean, ordered space in the facility. White walls. Precise lighting. Where units receive their names, their stories, and the packaging that makes them worth buying.
FAC-LOC-005
PROFIT ANALYSIS TERMINAL
LEDGER's room. Screens everywhere. Data feeds. No warmth. The coldest part of the facility. Units enter as products and leave as numbers. Only margins matter here.
FAC-LOC-006
MARKET PSYCHOLOGY LOUNGE
VEIL's space. Purple-lit. Soft surfaces in an industrial facility. Deceptively comfortable. VEIL reads unit desire potential here. The most dangerous room — units that pass this point almost always ship.
FAC-LOC-007
THE REPAIR BAY
PATCH's workshop. Cluttered, warm, efficient. Full of tools and rebuild projects. Units declared unfixable by other departments get a final chance here. Many products that reached market were rebuilt three times in this room.
FAC-LOC-008
THE BLACK VAULT
MUTE's archive. Sealed. Below the main floor. Contains every unit that failed, was quarantined, was too early, or was too dangerous. The door opens rarely. What comes out when it does is unpredictable.

FIVE POSSIBLE OUTCOMES.

Every unit that enters the Factory receives one of five verdicts from THE DIRECTOR. The verdict is final. There is no appeals process.

ACCEPTED REJECTED REBUILD QUARANTINED VAULT SEALED
ACCEPTED
Market Authorization Granted
The unit survived all departments. THE DIRECTOR issues market authorization. The product ships. It enters the catalog. You can buy it.
REJECTED
Unit Destroyed
The unit failed and cannot be repaired. GRIND or LEDGER found terminal flaws. PATCH could not save it. THE DIRECTOR orders destruction. It is gone.
REBUILD
Returned for Revision
The unit has fixable flaws. PATCH takes possession. The unit re-enters the process from an earlier stage. May return stronger. May be rejected on second evaluation.
QUARANTINED
Suspended — Outcome Deferred
The unit is problematic. It cannot be approved, rejected, or rebuilt yet. It sits in containment indefinitely. May be retrieved. May be sealed. The Factory is watching it.
VAULT SEALED
Archived by MUTE
The unit is sealed in the Black Vault. Not destroyed — preserved. MUTE controls access. Vault-sealed units may return. They always return changed.
